On September 8, 2025, Kathmandu witnessed something historic. From Maitighar to Baneshwor, the streets were filled with Gen Z youths carrying placards that read: “Our Tax, Our Right,” “We B3 for Transparency,” “Say No to Corruption, Choose Integrity,” and more. Their message was loud and clear — enough with corruption, enough with politics that serve a few at the cost of the many. The protests reflected deep public frustration with corruption, poor governance, and the repetition of the same political faces in power.
This wave of youth-led protest emerged after the government attempted to restrict popular social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. What was intended as control turned into a catalyst: young people turned to alternative spaces like Discord to organize, connect, and mobilize.
Tragically, the first day of protests saw the loss of 21 young lives. Their deaths have left the nation in grief, but also awakened a deeper realization: Nepal’s youth are no longer silent observers. They are ready to demand accountability and claim their rightful space in shaping the country’s future.
The Gen Z protest is more than a political moment. It is a generational awakening. It signals a shift where young people are not only calling for good governance and transparency, but also envisioning a different Nepal — one where integrity is valued, and leadership is truly accountable to the people.
Our Stand
As a youth organization, we see this moment as a powerful reminder of the role of young people in building a better Nepal. We stand in solidarity with the voices that filled the streets, and we remain committed to amplifying youth energy, ideas, and leadership for a more just, transparent, and accountable future.
