Growing up in Madhesh, a region often marginalized, I never imagined getting involved in politics. Frustrated by the leadership and having witnessed Madhesh movements, I had no interest in engaging with the system. But after joining Tanneri Chaso, my perspective shifted. I learned that politics should be about accountability and working for the people. This realization motivated me to take action, and I transitioned from being a political party worker to running as a candidate in elections.
Though I didn’t win, the experience was invaluable. Tanneri Chaso empowered me to use my voice, be creative, and lead. Without their support, I might still be resentful of politics, but now I stand as a leader, raising my community’s concerns and making a difference.
I am proud to be an alum of Tanneri Chaso’s New Media and Debate Workshop. It was a transformative experience that gave me the skills and confidence to believe in the power of my voice. The connections I made continue to inspire me, and I now know that speaking up can lead to real change.
